It’s Quiet… Too Quiet

Friday, August 20th, 2010

So, I haven’t been that active lately but things in our regions WH space dont seem to be stirring that much. Mainly just scouting out the low sec statics and popping out to harass the local pirates of whatever system I happen into.

Lost in Space!

THIS COMMUNICATION IS BROADCAST BLINDLY FROM UNKNOWN SPACE...

The recent disturbing events around New Eden along with the discovery of an unstable network of wormholes has shaken the confidence of many throughout the known galaxy. Still reeling from the staggering death toll in the Seyllin, I tried to busy myself by investigating some of the anomalies that have sprung up in the neighboring systems.

After a brief search I found a worm hole in the Kemerk system using my new scanning systems and warped to it. As I came out of warp I was greeted with an amazing and terrifying sight. A gaping maw of ripping space as large as a small moon wobbled in space before me. I checked my propulsion systems, fearing I might be sucked in but I was in a stable orbit around the all-consuming wormhole.

I sent out a communication to my corp mates and soon we had a small gang of 4 ships ready to plunge into this cosmic anomaly. On the other side we found ourselves in an unfamiliar solar system with a star and several planets. After a cursory scan we found several signatures in space that might hold some interesting finds so we warped to the closest one.

Before I had come out of warp my sensors were already picking up some unrecognizable technology. Sure enough there was a ship I’d never seen before waiting for us and it immediately engaged. The sleeper as I believe they are called, fought like a pod pilot and nearly took one of my mates out before it fell to our guns. Soon after, more ships came in and this time we were ready and we dispatched 2 more waves before the quiet of space returned.

We collected the spoils and set to head back to the safety of home, however when we returned to the wormhole it was gone. My sensors were picking nothing but the remnants of the collapsed rift.

Annoyed but undeterred, my mates went to another location to find more ships to destroy while I set about scanning down another exit. Apparently we were not the only pod pilots out here. Soon after my mates had engaged, a group of pod pilots warped in on them. My mates engaged while trying to tank the sleepers and took out one of the other pod pilots before losing their own ships.

They warped to safety in their pods and I continued scanning. After hours of scanning I finally narrowed down another worm hole only to find it led to yet another unknown system. My mates have all lost their patience and self destructed their pods, waking up in the clone vats of home. I hope I don’t have to resort to this same fate but I fear I may be trapped here for a very long time if I do not.

If only I had studied these new scanning systems more before embarking on this journey… If only…
